About Philip Burke PhotographyWell established business travelling internationally photographing weddings. Most of our work is weddings as it takes a lot of skill to do it managing people, changing weather and obstacles.
To put it simply, I love them! A mix of journalistic and creative off camera lighting to give you a relaxed informal approach. Trained with the U.K's best wedding photographers and continue to develop skills on a week by week basis. When we are not shooting weddings we are selling prints in local art dealerships. Little more..I wasn't always a photographer. For close to do a decade I worked at a leading charity in a management capacity developing young peoples talents working with all abilities and behaviours. A school governor for a secondary school unfortunately calling time on it to build the business from strength to strength. I still do volunteer my time on charitable projects throughout the year. * HMRC registered * Insured for public liability, professional imdeminity and employers liability * Professional member of the Guild of Photographers |
Can anyone be a photographer?
Yes, however it really helps if you have a natural talent for it. It takes hundreds of hours of training to understand environmental challenges, camera functionality and learn the essential photography skills needed for a multi faceted day like a wedding. I firmly believe anyone can take one good photo. Can they take 500! I never stop learning or sit on my laurels as it is an ever evolving process. Cameras and equipment only play a small part in getting great photo's. A lot is experience, knowledge and natural creativity.
Why is wedding photography expensive?
Lots of things we have to account for on top of running any business such as insurance and marketing. Time is the most important factor as the wedding day itself only accounts for about 25% of the time invested into your day. Hours of editing, processing is the key factor in this. It generally costs four times as much to service the equipment than it does a car annually too! Whilst hobby cameras can cost a few hundred pounds, the equipment we carry cost more than a large family car.
What makes you different to other photographers?
I treat every wedding as it is my own with upmost importance. Being prepared for most eventualities too including having an assistant who's role is to ensure your day runs seamlessly more so than to assist with the photos itself.
What is your favourite venue?
I like venues that are small and personal that offers privacy for the bride and groom with an abundance of character. Broughton Hall is the very best at this with the house being the place to sleep, get wed, dine and celebrate in one place. It is very pricey though so get your cheque book out.....
What tips would you give me for my wedding day?
Remember when considering a venue it has lots of natural light, high ceilings and places where you would like to be photographed. If there is grass consider your guest with high heels, you can buy heel covers from Amazon. If it is a winter wedding, making sure there are enough umbrellas and warm spots for people to be comfortable. My final tip is to make sure your guests understand it is your day not theirs!
Will you hold my day?
Yes, I usually hold your date for 7 days, As it is a low deposit of £100 after that I have to consider my diary as we only take on one wedding a week on average. As a business we cannot afford to hold the date on a promise.
